The Montauk Chamber of Commerce’s Fall Festival, two days of food, live music, and fun for kids, will be held on the downtown green on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A clam chowder contest will kick off the festival on Saturday at 11 a.m. Chowders from almost every local establishment will compete for bragging rights. Commemorative mugs for chowder will be sold in front of the Chamber of Commerce building for $15 beginning at 10 a.m., and then, if you’re a big chowder fan, you’d be well advised to get in line immediately for a taste of the offerings.

On both days there will be Octoberfest food such as sausage and peppers, bratwurst, grilled corn, hamburgers, hot dogs, clam chowder, candied apples, local oysters, clams, beer and wine, as well as a farmers market. Bouncy houses, face painting, pumpkin decorating, a mechanical shark, and a pumpkin patch will keep the children busy. Montauk’s own the Realm will get the crowd rocking on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m., and Little Head Thinks will be on the green playing Sunday from 2 to 5.

Also on Sunday there will be various auctions with sports memorabilia and local prizes, beginning inside the tent at 11 a.m., with the drawing at 3:45 p.m. Drawing for the Cash Catch raffle will begin at 4:30 on Sunday. One lucky winner will be $20,000 richer, and others will go home with prizes of $5,000, $2,500, and $500. Tickets cost $50 and will be sold until the drawing.

The Montauk Point Lions Club and the Montauk Fire Department are hosting their annual Columbus Day weekend pancake breakfast on Sunday from 8 to 11:30 at the firehouse. The cost for a stack with sausage, juice, and coffee or tea is $12 for adults and $8 for children. This event helps raise money for the annual senior citizens holiday dinner that will be held on Dec 3. There will be an open house at the firehouse. Fire prevention week has started, so fire trucks, demonstrations, drills, and more will be available for children and adults on the fire department grounds.

Holiday weekend at the Montauk Lighthouse will be filled with fun for the whole family. The Kings of the Coast Pirates will perform two shows daily on Saturday and Sunday between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Admission to the Lighthouse is $15 for adults, $10 for those 62 and older, and $5 for children under 12. Children under 41 inches in height will be admitted for free, but will not be allowed to climb the tower.
