Songwriters Share

Tue, 12/31/2019 - 19:46

The new year begins Friday night with the sixth annual Songwriters Share concert series at the Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse of the South Fork. Each concert will support a local charity.

Friday’s concert, starting at 7:30, features Points East, a family band from the North Fork performing original music and arrangements of cover tunes with an “acoustic alternative folk newgrass country” flavor. Brian Cummings provides lead vocals and plays the guitar, Keith Cummings offers vocals, guitar, and banjo, Heather Sterling sings and plays hand percussion, Steve Shaughnessy plays the upright bass, and Taylor Cummings will be on percussion.

The concert will benefit Maureen’s Haven, which provide safe, warm, temporary shelter to homeless people on the East End from November through March, at various houses of worship.

Tickets are $20 per person, $15 for seniors and students. A complimentary wine and cheese reception follows each concert. The next one will be held on Feb. 7, with Inda Eaton playing for Project Most.
