An opening reception for "Aprés Surf," a collection of art and design that gives an "afterlife" to the material objects of surfing, happens Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Stick + Stone at Grain Surfboards in Amagansett. This is the first exhibition at its new location, at 249 Main Street.

Scott Bluedorn curated the exhibition, which features works by himself as well as Peter Spacek, Dalton Portella, Annie Sessler, and Scott Szegeski. Often composed of toxic and long-lasting chemicals and polymers, the materials traditionally used in surfboards, wetsuits, and various accessories can find new use through creative outputs and be saved from the landfill. The artists involved are all surfers or are intimately familiar with surfing, and share an environmental awareness in their work.

"Aprés Surf" will be exhibited through Sept. 13. Friday's reception will include a surf craft expo on the lawn and zero-waste sampling by Mind Offline. Those interested in attending have been asked to R.S.V.P. by sending an email to [email protected]. Masks will be required.
