Some beaches in East Hampton Town and Village are staying open a little longer this year.

In East Hampton Town, according to a press release, four ocean beaches will be staffed with lifeguards from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday, Sept. 13, and then again on the weekend of Sept. 19 and 20. Those beaches are Indian Wells and Atlantic in Amagansett and Ditch Plain and Kirk Park in Montauk.

Big Albert's Beach will have lifeguards on duty through Sunday, Sept. 6. At Gin Beach, there will be lifeguards on Sept. 5 and 6. Lifeguards are no longer on duty at Maidstone Park Beach in Springs, and there are no plans to add them for extra weekends.

According to the East Hampton Village administrator Becky Molinaro Hansen, in the village, Main Beach will remain open next Tuesday through Sept. 13, with one lifeguard stand and access to bathrooms and the office. The other village beaches will be closed.

Main Beach will again be open with lifeguards, staff, and bathrooms on Sept. 19 and 20.

"Our last day will be Sept. 20 and the beach will be closed after that," Ms. Hansen said in an email to The Star.
