Virginia Backlund Celebrates 100th Birthday

Virginia Backlund celebrated her 100th birthday this week.

Virginia Backlund, a retired public health nurse (formerly Virginia King), celebrated her 100th birthday on Tuesday.

She moved to East Hampton in the 1940s. Former students may remember her as Mrs. King, who worked in many East End schools, from Mattituck on the North Fork to Montauk on the South Fork.
