Next week is National Library Week — making it a perfect time to check out your local library.

The East Hampton Library's reference department will host a Zoom exploration of libraries around the world on Wednesday at 6 p.m. to mark National Library Week. "From the oldest to the quirkiest (and even some that are haunted!), this program will shine a light on what makes libraries so great!" the library said.

Just in time for National Library Week, the Montauk Library will be expanding its hours beginning Monday. It will open at 9 a.m. Monday through Saturday and will stay open until 6 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and until 8 on Wednesday and Friday. On Sunday the library will be open from 1 to 6 p.m.

The Montauk Library's budget vote and trustee election will take place on Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m.

Sag Harbor Village Workers Pull Down Handmade 'Vote' Art

Village workers promptly took them all down on Friday morning, relegating them to garbage before the artists dug through the trash to save them.

The Great Pumpkin Compost

Instead of tossing those old jack-o'-lanterns in the garbage, the South Fork chapter of ReWild Long Island is asking people to compost their old Halloween pumpkins and gourds, and has partnered with three South Fork farms and gardens to make that easy.
