Lots of sunshine is in the forecast for the weekend, making it a great time to take a hike.

The East Hampton Trails Preservation Society will host a hike of the Stony Hill woods and East Side trail system in Amagansett on Saturday at 10 a.m. Hikers will make a four-mile, clockwise circuit through Jacob's Farm, the trail system, and finally the Stony Hill woods. The wooded ramble ranges from flat to fairly hilly. The meeting place is the Jacob's Farm trailhead, a roadside pull-off on Red Dirt Road about a thousand feet east of Accabonac Road. Taking liquids along has been recommended. Rick Whalen, who will lead the hike, can be contacted at [email protected] or 631-275-8539 with questions.

Jim Zajac of the trails society will lead a five-mile hike on Sunday at 9 a.m. through Hither Hills State Park and along the Paumanok Path to the bay side of Montauk, with the route offering some of the most pristine water views and diverse terrain on the East End. Hikers will gather on Napeague Meadow Road, where the Paumanok Path crosses over it, about a quarter-mile north of the railroad tracks. Mr. Zajac can be reached at 631-324-2425 or [email protected] for more information.
