Three Days to Recycle Old Technology

Wed, 04/19/2023 - 11:53

Earth Day is Saturday, and GeekHampton on Bay Street in Sag Harbor is celebrating with three days of e-waste recycling. Starting Thursday, you can drop off your old computer gear between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Accepted items include laptops, desktop computers, cellphones and old land-line phones, power supplies, monitors, printers, copiers, and cables and wires. GeekHampton specifically asks that people do not bring them old refrigerators and microwaves.

All data from these devices will be "destroyed securely." Used iPhones that still work will be reset to factory settings and donate to a good cause.

"Nothing ends up in a landfill," GeekHampton said in an announcement. Recycling this way is "compliant with all applicable laws."
