The annual Sally Peterson Memorial Scholarship bake sale and plant sale is happening on Saturday at the Sagaponack School.

For sale will be homemade sweet treats, plus baskets of flowers, school shirts, and hats, to raise money for college scholarships for high school seniors who are Sagaponack School alumni. Customers can also tour the school.

The scholarships are given in honor of Sally Virginia Peterson, a Sagaponack School student and descendant of the Topping family, who went on to become a college professor in the 1960s and '70s in Delaware and North Carolina. She died in 1993.

The bake sale hours are 8 a.m. to noon at the Little Red Schoolhouse on Sagg Main Street.

Rowdy Hall (the House) Is on a Roll

Long before the name “Rowdy Hall” was adopted by a popular East Hampton Village bar and eatery (now in Amagansett), it was a boarding house: Mrs. Harry Hamlin’s Rowdy Hall. The building, now a single-family house, still stands at 111 Egypt Lane, although currently it’s floating, suspended six feet above a hole. When it’s lowered again, it will be on a new foundation.
