East Hampton School District officials made a plea last week for people to follow the rules — all of them, even the ones that may seem trivial — when using the district's athletic fields and other outdoor facilities for recreation.

Areas of particular concern are the playing of music, which impacts the campuses' neighbors, and the riding of motorized bicycles on the track and the fields, which can damage those surfaces. Go-kart racing and drone flying are also prohibited activities, school officials said.

Adam Fine, the district superintendent, urged users to follow the signs explaining the rules. "It's very clear. There is tons of signage," he said. "It's a great facility and we know the community wants to use it. Just work with us."
