Dance Party for Education Foundation

There will be a dance party fund-raiser at Rosie's restaurant on Thursday, May 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. to support the East Hampton Education Foundation, which provides thousands of dollars in grants to local teachers each year.

Tickets cost $100 and can be bought online at eh-ef.org. There will also be door prizes and auction prizes, from which proceeds benefit students from Montauk to Sagaponack. Rosie's is at 195 Main Street in Amagansett.

A Call to Rein in Chain Stores in Sag Harbor

Residents of Sag Harbor have come together to denounce what some see as a troubling wave of chain stores. A petition launched by Save Sag Harbor that calls for new legislation to define and limit “formula retail” or “chain establishments” in the village has been signed by over 500 people in the last week.

After 15 years in Sag Harbor, GeekHampton, which sells and services Apple products, will close on Tuesday at 6 p.m. It will reopen on May 4 in Hampton Bays.
