Community Ecology in Focus on Saturday

Thu, 08/07/2025 - 10:46

Three environmental experts will address the topic of protecting and preserving the ecology of one’s community on Saturday in Bridgehampton.

Speakers include John Barrows, an advocate for eco-friendly and sustainable building who has been involved with multiple National Association of Home Builders projects; Paul Wagner, a New York State-certified nursery professional and the founder of Green Pastures Organics, a landscaping company in Southampton, and Jay Schneiderman, executive director of the Mecox Bay Conservancy, who was appointed to his role after decades holding elected offices in East Hampton and Southampton Towns and Suffolk County.

Moderated by County Legislator Ann Welker and co-sponsored by Peconic Land Trust, the talk will cover topics such as chemical-free lawn care and smart irrigation methods. It will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Hampton Library on Main Street in Bridgehampton. Registration ahead of time is encouraged by way of a QR code that can be found on the Southampton Town website.
