Starting on Wednesday morning, people will be able to schedule appointments for Covid-19 vaccinations at a new state-run site opening Friday at the Stony Brook Southampton college campus.
The site will operate from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week. Those eligible to be vaccinated can schedule an appointment by visiting the state's Am I Eligible website, or by calling the Covid-19 vaccination hotline at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX.
The site is one of three new mass vaccination centers opening on Long Island on Friday, and the only one on the East End. The other two will be on the campuses of Suffolk Community College Brentwood and the State University at Old Westbury. "We're committed to quickly expanding the state's vaccine distribution network to get shots in arms as quickly and efficiently as possible, and these three sites will help Long Islanders access the vaccine and gain some peace of mind as we continue battling the pandemic," said Mr. Cuomo. "We'll continue expanding our distribution network and vaccinating more New Yorkers as the state receives more supply."
All New Yorkers 60 and older are now eligible for the vaccine, as are health care workers, people with certain health conditions, teachers and school employees, restaurant and grocery store workers, and essential workers in some other fields.
Starting Wednesday, eligibility will be extended to public-facing government and public employees, not-for-profit workers providing certain services to the public, and essential building service employees.
