A drive-through Covid-19 testing site is scheduled to open at East Hampton Town Hall on Wednesday. The outdoor site, which will be open seven days per week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., has been established in response to the surge in coronavirus transmission across Long Island and in New York State.
In the past week, Suffolk County has reported more new Covid-19 cases on a daily basis than at any point since the pandemic began.
The testing site in East Hampton will offer Covid-19 PCR nasal swab testing and rapid antigen testing for active viral infection diagnosis, and antibody blood testing to determine if a person has had a previous case of the virus.
The site will be in operation “for the foreseeable future,” an official at Town Hall said on Monday.
The PCR nasal swab test will cost $179, and the cost of the rapid antigen test will be $99. The antibody test will cost $59. Insurance and Medicare will be accepted. A limited number of free tests will be made available to those in financial need, according to a statement from Town Hall on Monday.
Collection Sites L.L.C., a subsidiary of QuestCap Inc., will conduct the tests. Those wishing to schedule a test have been asked to make an appointment by visiting testbeforeyougo.com, although some tests will be offered without appointment as daily capacity allows.
The Town Hall test site is separate from the nearby indoor testing site recently launched at East Hampton Family Medicine, at 200 Pantigo Place.
