The Hampton Jitney is taking reservations in anticipation of restarting limited service for essential travel on Thursday.
"We are currently running training trips to practice our new safety protocols and social distancing guidelines," Nina Bracovic, the marketing manager for the Hampton Jitney, said in an email on Friday.
According to an announcement on the Jitney website, passengers will be required to wear masks. The buses will operate with reduced capacity to allow for social distancing, and sanitizing wipes and gel will be available on board.
"Enhanced cleaning" is being performed, the Jitney website also says. There is also daily cleaning taking place on the Long Island Rail Road, which has been operating on a limited, "essential" schedule, a spokesperson said this week.
Pat Foye, the chairman of the railroad, said in a Long Island News Radio interview on Friday that unlike the New York City Subway system, which is being shut down between 1 and 5 a.m. every day for a full cleaning, the L.I.R.R. would not experience stoppages.
"The stations will continue to be disinfected every day, but there'll be no change in Long Island Rail Road service," Mr. Foye said.
