In a trend that is likely to continue this summer, the Southampton Hospital Foundation, which is responsible for Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s annual summer party, said the event will take place in a new format this year.

The gala’s 62nd iteration will not be held in the field across from the hospital on Wickapogue Road as it has previously. In response to continuing concerns related to the coronavirus and to serve as an example of safe behavior, the party’s theme will be Gala in Your Garden.

Working with local restaurants and florists, patrons can help raise money for the hospital’s emergency department and the Healthcare Heroes Fund in their own homes and gardens. A virtual component will bring all parties together for a toast and remarks.

“It is only fitting that this year, we leverage our gala to put something back into the community, and work with local suppliers to put on a night to celebrate our incredible health care heroes and raise funds for our indefatigable emergency department,” Robert Chaloner, the hospital’s chief administrative officer, said.

Full details of the evening, including ticket pricing, will be announced soon.
