Thu, 11/21/2019 - 13:35

Visiting hours for Mary Margaret McCaffrey, who died on Monday at the age of 56, will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton. A funeral Mass will be said on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in East Hampton, with burial to follow at the Wainscott Cemetery.

Ms. McCaffrey was the Wainscott School's secretary and district clerk for 19 years. David Eagan, the Wainscott School Board president and Ms. McCaffrey's brother-in-law, said she will be remembered for her "smile, concern for others, and kindness most of all."

"She was the face and spirit of our district and schoolhouse," Mr. Eagan said in a statement on Thursday. "We all benefited from her commitment, intelligence, judgment, extraordinary efficiency, kindness, and grace. She was loved and respected by all who interacted with our district, particularly the trustees, our staff, and the hundreds of our students and their families whose lives she touched and benefited over the years."

A full obituary will appear in the future.
