Louis E. Sherry Sr.

Louis E. Sherry Sr., who grew up on Sherry’s Dairy Farm in Southampton and worked as a milkman from East Hampton to Montauk for many years, died on June 25. Most recently of LaGrangeville and Berkshire upstate, he was 86.

After serving in the Navy, he took a job as a serviceman for Pulver Gas in Bridgehampton. He went on to start his own business, Louis Sherry Landscaping in East Hampton.

Mr. Sherry was a parishioner at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church here, and later joined the congregation of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Owego, N.Y. He enjoyed woodworking, art, gardening, and reading, especially history books.

He was born in Southampton on April 27, 1938, to Stanley John Sherry and Stella Rose Sherry.

On Feb. 17, 1972, he married Brenda Paris, who survives him and lives in LaGrangeville.

Mr. Sherry is also survived by a son, Louis Sherry Jr., and his wife, Jillian, of LaGrangeville; a grandson, Louis Sherry III, and his fiancée, Ruby Kidwell, of Berkshire, and two granddaughters, Abigail Sherry and Lyla Sherry of LaGrangeville. He leaves a sister, Joan Dolan, who lives upstate, a brother, James Sherry, and his wife, Donna, of Southampton, and several nieces and nephews. A sister-in-law, Dorothy Cronley, and her husband, Roger Cronley, of East Hampton, also survive.

A daughter, Helen Sherry, and two grandchildren, Christine and David, died before him.

Mr. Sherry was buried at Green River Cemetery in Springs on Sept. 7.
