73 M.P.H. on Woods Lane

Thu, 05/23/2019 - 07:22

East Hampton Village police allegedly clocked the driver of a 2012 Mercedes Benz at 73 miles per hour on Woods Lane early in the morning of April 8 before the car crashed into shrubbery and a fence while turning into the driveway of 75 Woods Lane. The driver, Elizabeth Ann Damark, was arrested on multiple charges including felony drunken driving.

Ms. Damark, who turns 26 next week, has a prior conviction on the charge, following an arrest over Labor Day weekend in 2012.

Her employer’s address is on Woods Lane, though it was not clear from the report that that was where the crash occurred. She reportedly told police she had had “three whiskeys.” Police said that when they searched the car they found cocaine, leading to a misdemeanor charge of possession, and some marijuana.

Ms. Damark refused to take the breath test at Cedar Street headquarters. Under county law, the car, which suffered front-end damage, was seized by the police and towed to the East Hampton Village impound yard. Because it is registered to Ms. Damark, it will likely be sold at auction once her case is adjudicated, unless she is cleared of the charges.

She has since been released, with a future date in court.
