Thu, 05/23/2019 - 06:33

Rian J. O’Dwyer, 22, of East Hampton was behind the wheel of a 2013 Toyota Tundra traveling on Route 114 near Whooping Hollow Road on Sept. 9 at about 3:40 a.m. when East Hampton Town police said they noticed the left taillight was out. Police said the driver  was speeding, had an obstructed view, and that he failed to signal a right turn.

When police pulled the truck over, Mr. O’Dwyer appeared intoxicated, a report said. They then found he had two plastic bags of cocaine on his person and four in the Tundra. The cocaine weighed over 500 milligrams, according to police. Police also found a small amount of marijuana in a metal grinder in the truck.

Mr. O’Dwyer was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and driving while ability impaired by alcohol, a violation, and unlawful possession of marijuana, also a violation. East Hampton Town Justice Lisa R. Rana released him on $3,000 bail later that day.

Town police also arrested Marco G. Ayala, 38, of East Hampton on a misdemeanor driving-while-intoxicated charge. He was driving a 2006 Nissan Maxima south on Town Lane, near Jenny’s Path, in East Hampton with one inoperable headlamp when he was stopped on Friday at 8 p.m., police said. Justice Steven Tekulsky released him on his own recognizance.

Paul S. Morris, 58, of Rego Park was arrested on a D.W.I. charge in Montauk. Police said he was driving a 2017 Toyota on Flamingo Avenue, near Fleming Road, when he crossed over the double-yellow center line into oncoming traffic on Saturday at about 10:15 p.m. He was held overnight for arraignment. Justice Tekulsky released him on $250 bail.

Sag Harbor Village police reported a drunken-driving arrest after an officer saw a car veer onto the grass shoulder on Howard Street on Sunday at about 5:50 a.m. Madeline E. Hansen, 27, of West Islip was driving a 2014 Subaru Forrester when she was pulled over on Main Street. She appeared intoxicated and performed poorly on several field sobriety tests, according to a report.  While police were doing an inventory, they found a small black plastic container in her handbag, which contained a green leafy substance that later tested positive for marijuana.

She was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and unsafely changing lanes, a traffic infraction. She was released on her own recognizance following arraignment.
