East Hampton

An East Hampton High School student was in class on Nov. 12, he told police, when he received a phone call from a man who said his sister had been in an accident. Police contacted the sister, who was fine, and told the boy that the phone calls were part of a scam, and that several such incidents had been reported recently. The same man left similar messages on the family’s land line, according to the log.

Another student at the high school told police that on Nov. 16, while he was attending class, someone stuck a razor into a tire on his Dodge Dakota, flattening it. The tip of the razor was left in the tire, which was parked in the school lot.

A vandal struck a Three Mile Harbor front porch on Nov. 3. Justin Schellinger told police he was at work that day when two packages from Amazon were delivered. One of the two packages had been opened, he said. Nothing was stolen, but the contents of the package were thrown into the bushes.

East Hampton Village

Police questioned a Center Moriches man whom they found photographing the exterior of the John M. Marshall Elementary School after midnight on Nov. 15. He was said to be in a 2015 Mercedes Benz 350, in the pickup and drop-off zone at the time. The 24-year-old, whose identity was not released, said he was “taking night photos for a project he was working on,” according to the police. He admitted that he did not have permission to be on the school grounds, and was warned to contact school officials in the future if he wanted to take photos.

Sag Harbor

Graffiti was found Nov. 12 on the exterior of the Sag Harbor Pharmacy, and again three days later on the side of the barber shop on Long Island Avenue.
