Post-Holiday D.W.I. Charge

The East End D.W.I. Task Force was on patrol Friday night, the day after Thanksgiving, yielding one arrest. 

Michael Muller, 48, of West Babylon was driving a 2018 Ford pickup truck south on Route 114 near Hardscrabble Close in East Hampton when a village police officer spotted him following other vehicles too closely and not staying in his lane of travel at  around 11:30 p.m., according to a report. 

He was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and held overnight for arraignment. Justice Steven Tekulsky released him on his own recognizance the next morning.   

Attempted Swatting in Sag Harbor

Sag Harbor Village police have received several reports of “swatting” calls, falsely reporting an emergency, from Main Street businesses recently, three involving Sag Pizza and another, last week, involving Apple Bank.

East Hampton Village’s new Flock license-plate reader cameras are having an immediate effect here. Out of 18 arrests reported by village police in the last two weeks, 14 were made with the assistance of the cameras.
