An 18-year-old from East Hampton was charged last week with felony criminal contempt, among other charges, after town police said he disobeyed a court order in a domestic violence case.The teen, whose name was withheld because he is eligible for youthful offender status, said he shoved the victim in the chest with both his hands at his house on April 1. The victim’s name also was withheld. East Hampton Town Justice Lisa R. Rana had issued a two-year order of protection on April 19, 2018, which requires the young man to refrain from harassing or physically touching the victim, as well as refraining from the use of nonprescription drugs or alcohol. He was charged Saturday with criminal contempt in the first degree, a felony, and criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor. Police also charged him with unlawful possession of marijuana, having found him with a small quantity when he was arrested.Justice Steven Tekulsky released the teenager on his own recognizance.
