One D.W.I. Arrest in East Hampton

A single motorist was charged with drunken driving in East Hampton Town last week.

The man, Rigoberto Ruiz-Coz of Springs, faces a count of first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, as well. Town police said his license had been revoked following another "alcohol-related" offense, apparently a less serious one, as the new D.W.I. charge was classified as a misdemeanor.

The 38-year-old, who lives in Springs, was pulled over at 1 a.m. on Springs-Fireplace Road there, near Spinner Lane, after being clocked at 53 miles per hour in a 30 m.p.h. zone. He did poorly on roadside tests, police said, admitted to drinking, and consented to take a breath test.

Mr. Ruiz-Coz was held overnight and appeared in Justice Court the next morning before Justice Steven Tekulsky.

Attempted Swatting in Sag Harbor

Sag Harbor Village police have received several reports of “swatting” calls, falsely reporting an emergency, from Main Street businesses recently, three involving Sag Pizza and another, last week, involving Apple Bank.
