Thu, 08/06/2020 - 10:19

In Montauk on the night of July 20, East Hampton Town police allegedly spotted marijuana in the ashtray of Francisco Serrano's 2001 Honda, which was parked outside the 7-Eleven in Montauk. Upon searching the car, they also reported finding hallucinogenic mushooms in the glove compartment, and a tab of Ecstasy in his wallet.

Mr. Serrano, 20, of Mount Vernon, N.Y., was taken to the police station in Wainscott, where, police said, a small tab of lysergic acid diethylamide, LSD, was also found in the wallet, plus more weed in plastic packaging in his backpack.

Charged with several felonies for criminal possession of controlled substances, Mr. Serrano was arraigned in East Hampton Town Court the next morning by Justice Lisa R. Rana. He will be back in court to answer the charges at a future date.

Back on July 14, during an altercation between Ryan King of Montauk, 40, and Aidan Forst of East Hampton, Mr. King allegedly punched Mr. Forst with a closed fist, causing swelling and bruising to his left eye. Mr. Forst reported the incident on July 27, and Mr. King was taken before Sgt. Kenneth Alversa at the Montauk substation. He was cited for harassment in the second degree.

Mariah Musto, 29, of East Meadow was pulled over for a traffic violation on July 28 while driving a 2007 Volvo near West Lake Drive in Montauk, and later charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, a misdemeanor. She is scheduled to appear in Justice Court on Aug. 15.

They Know When You've Been Bad or Good

East Hampton Village is now home to 14 Flock license plate reader surveillance cameras, which amounts to one for every 108 full-time residents, if you go by the 2020 census data. They're heralded by local police for aiding in enforcement and investigations, but they use a technology that has proven controversial nationally with those concerned about civil liberties.
