Three motorists were charged last week with driving while intoxicated, two in Sag Harbor and the third in Amagansett.
Last Thursday at 3 p.m., Cristian Tapia of Sag Harbor, 38, was pulled over at the Main Street-Brick Kiln Road intersection there. Officers charged him with aggravated D.W.I., a misdemeanor, and two violations, claiming he had changed lanes unsafely and had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. He was held overnight for a Friday morning arraignment.
Melanie Osorio-Salinas, 19, of East Hampton, was accused of D.W.I. and having more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in her blood on June 7 at around 2 a.m. Sag Village police said her 2010 Toyota Highlander bounced off a highway marker on Hampton Street, then drove into a hedgerow at 208 Hampton Street and struck a tree in the driveway of 212 Hampton Street. The car had "extensive damage," and the driver was taken by ambulance to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, which released her to police custody in short order. She is to answer the charges tomorrow in village court.
East Hampton Town police charged Jack Barrera, 20, of Morris Park Lane, East Hampton, on June 8 with first-offense D.W.I., a misdemeanor.. Mr. Barrera called police himself at 2 a.m. that day, after his 2014 Audi got "stuck in the gravel at the railroad tracks" in Amagansett, on Abraham's Landing Road and Old Stone Highway. He was arraigned later that morning by Justice Steven Tekulsky.
