One Parking Spot, Two Cars

Thu, 07/14/2022 - 10:05

A confrontation over a parking spot at the Meadow Street lot in Sag Harbor led last Thursday to the arrest of Jessica Digeronimo of East Hampton, who was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony,

According to Sag Village police, Ms. Digeronimo was entering the spot at about the same time as the other driver, who got in first and parked the Mini Cooper she was driving there. The two exchanged words. According to the report, Ms. Digeronimo then waited in her black Mercedes-Benz two rows behind the Mini Cooper, until its unidentified driver left to shop.

That driver, however, had gone across the street to watch, and told police she saw Ms. Digeronimo take something from her purse and use it to scrape her car. Ms. Digeronimo denied scraping the car. Police were unable to find any surveillance cameras that recorded the incident.

Nonetheless, the alleged victim wanted to press charges. Ms. Digeronimo was released with an appearance ticket and will return to Sag Harbor Village Court on Friday, July 22, to answer the charges.

Also last week, East Hampton Village police stopped a Shirley woman on Woods Lane at around 2 a.m. on July 6 for a broken headlight. When police ran Erica Sanders’s name and vehicle information, the computer revealed that her car was uninspected and uninsured, and that its registration had lapsed, they said.

The car was impounded, and, during an inventory of its contents, police allegedly retrieved a stun gun from its center console. A misdemeanor weapons charge was added, and Ms. Sanders was held for the remainder of the night for a morning appearance in East Hampton Justice Court. She was released on her own recognizance, and is to return to court on Wednesday.
