An East Hampton man was hospitalized following a collision with a 2023 Chevrolet while cycling north on King Street in the village on the morning of Aug. 16.

The driver, Moses Chao of New York City, 72, struck the cyclist while attempting to complete a left turn from Railroad Avenue onto King Street. When police arrived, Mr. Chao said he “did not see the bicyclist,” Larry Hillel, 83, who told police the vehicle did not stop before hitting him.

As the car was a rental from Avis, Mr. Chao was unable to provide insurance information at the scene. Mr. Hillel was hospitalized for fractures in his neck, back, and right wrist. He also had deep cuts on the top of his head.
