Amagansett

A local woman walked into town police headquarters Saturday afternoon to report an unfamiliar $29 charge on her checking account statement. Police advised her to call her bank, which said the charge was a mistake and reversed it.

On Sunday evening, the assistant manager of Sportime told police he’d seen two drunken men harassing the snack stand attendant and asked them to leave, which they did, briefly, but then ran back in and punched him. Police found the pair in the parking lot and told them not to return. The report did not say whether charges were filed.

East Hampton

Police spotted a man holding an open, half-full bottle of Heineken beer near the Empire service station on North Main Street early Sunday morning and ticketed him for the open container.

A resident of the Oakview Highway trailer camp woke up Sunday morning to find his car mirrors knocked off and scratches on the side panels. Police filed a criminal-mischief report.

Montauk

The owner of John’s Drive-In told police in early November, according to an official report released just this week, that someone had pried open the restaurant’s outdoor freezer with a piece of metal and stolen two boxes of frozen food. An investigation is ongoing.

Northwest Harbor

A Diane Drive woman told police on Jan. 14 that she and her husband had spent $300 to renew their global entry passport ID on a website, and that she believed they were overcharged. They were advised to contact the official global entry service, which told them that the other site was legitimate, despite costing more.

Police filed a fraud report on Dec. 18 for a Springy Banks Road woman who not only reported $1,403 of fraudulent charges on her Amazon business account but also said she’d been receiving “random packages” at her house, the last of which “made her nervous,” she said, as it contained “20 fire blankets.” Police only recently released a report of the incident.

Springs

Last Thursday morning, a Lotus Avenue resident noticed his garbage can was missing. It has happened several times over the last few months, he told police, and he wanted the thefts documented.

Police Say Driver Fled With Drugs in Car

Southampton Town police charged a Bay Shore woman with two felonies last Thursday, saying, first, that she’d left the scene of an accident on Sagg Main Street in Sagaponack, and second, after being located, was discovered to be in possession of “a “quantity of illegal drugs and paraphernalia.”

Andrey Trigubovich, named the new chief of East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue, has been a member of the group since 2009, and has served as a lieutenant and a first assistant chief. He takes over the top post from Barnaby Friedman, who served as chief for three terms.
