Amagansett

A man tried to return a toilet seat to Amagansett Hardware last Thursday afternoon, but employees turned down the request after noticing that the package had already been opened. The man became irate and police were called. He told them that he wanted store credit, but looking at the receipt, police noted it said the object had to be in the “same condition.” The man was asked not to return to the store.

On Friday night, officers went to Rowdy Hall after a report of an intoxicated guest, who, an employee said, had begun using profanity around children. He was escorted out and told not to come back.

Montauk

Local firefighters requested backup from the East Hampton and Amagansett departments Friday morning to deal with an Upper Firestone Road blaze, which was apparently caused by a defective outlet on a back deck. Damage was reportedly limited to the deck.

Sag Harbor

Police went to Richards Drive Friday night after a report of loud singing at a construction site. The workers were asked to lower the volume, and complied.

About an hour later, police were called to Madison Street after someone reported hearing shattered glass. Two people were “trying to leave an apartment” there when officers entered, but were asked to remain, and did. Police found that “a staff party” had been in full swing when someone leaned on a window, causing it to shatter.
