Film Fest Will Honor Edward Norton for Career Achievement

The Hamptons International Film Festival announced this week that Edward Norton will receive a Career Achievement Award during this year's festival, citing a career of acting in as well as producing and directing a number of acclaimed and award-winning films. These credits include "Birdman," "Fight Club," "American History X," "Primal Fear," and "The Painted Veil." The award will be presented at a dinner in his honor on Oct. 9.

In addition, the festival announced its films in competition this year in the narrative, documentary, and shorts categories.

The narrative films are "Glory" by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov, Houda Benyamina's "Divines," Andrea Testa and Francisco Marquez's "The Long Night of Francisco Sanctis," Henrik Martin Dahlsbakken's "Late Summer," and Simon Stone's "The Daughter."

In the documentary category are Charlie Siskel's "American Anarchist," "Those Who Jump" by Moritz Siebert, Estephan Wagner, and Abou Bakar Sidibe, Keith Maitland's "Tower," Otto Bell's "The Eagle Huntress; and Dean Fleischer-Camp's "Fraud."

The narrative shorts are Ena Sendijarevic's "Import," Hamid Ahmadi's "In the Hills," Ali Asgari and Farnoosh Samadi's "The Silence," Mounia Akl's "Submarine," and "The Itching" by Dianne Bellino.

The documentary shorts include Todd Douglas Miller's "The Last Steps," Remo Scherrer's "Whatever the Weather," Leonor Teles's "Batrachian's Ballad," Maxim Pozdorovkin's "Clinica de Migrantes: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness," and Fabio Palmieri's "Irregulars."

As an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences qualifying festival for the Documentary Short Subject Award, the winner of the festival's documentary short category may enter that category of the Academy Awards without a standard theatrical run. Prize winners also receive a package of goods and services with a combined value of $125,000 to be used toward the making of their next feature films, and a cash prize of $3,000 per film.

The award dinner, founder passes, and other ticket packages are already on sale on the festival's website. Individual tickets will go on sale Sept. 26. The festival will be held from Oct. 6 to Oct. 10.
