LongHouse Began a Year-Long Celebration With Its Winter Benefit

Fri, 05/24/2019 - 13:08
Jack Lenor Larsen took to the stage on Tuesday night to present the LongHouse Award (on the screen) to Hugh Hardy.

LongHouse Reserve held “Design for Living,” its winter benefit, on Tuesday night in Brooklyn. The event was presented at National Sawdust in Williamsburg and featured a performance by Nona Hendryx.

The benefit heralded the year-long celebration of LongHouse’s jubilee. Jack Lenor Larsen, known as one of the titans of modern textile design, opened the garden at LongHouse to the public in 1991. On Tuesday, he honored Hugh Hardy, an architect, with the LongHouse Award. Mr. Hardy has worked on projects such as the redesigning of Lincoln Center Theater, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the restoration of Radio City Music Hall.

Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception, a discussion between Mr. Hardy and Peter Zuspan, whose firm redesigned the National Sawdust space,  the performance, and then dinner by Patrick Connolly, a James Beard Award-winning chef.

Looking ahead, the LongHouse summer benefit “Serious Moonlight” will be held on July 23.
