New Venues Don't Keep The Crowds Away at Art Fair Openings

Art Southampton and Market Art + Design opened at new sites this year, but it did not keep opening night crowds from finding them and enjoying their champagne, cocktails, finger food, and, oh yes, the art.

Market Art + Design moved from the grounds of the Bridgehampton Historical Society to Fairview farm, a large tract of land with a view of Mecox Bay. The fair made the most of it with floor to ceiling windows on the bay side with a lounge area provided by its design participants.

Art Southampton took over Nova's Ark in Bridgehampton, a space that had been occupied for the past few years by ArtHamptons. Its back-to-back previews became crowded quickly with guests roaming the aisles and crowded into the lounge.

Market Art + Design closes on Sunday. Art Southampton is open through Monday.
