Yoga enthusiasts and equestrians alike may find appealing a pair of retreats being organized by a local woman whose professional training and teaching experiences are rooted in both worlds.
Called Equine and Unwind, the retreats offer participants the experience of working with horses in therapeutic ways, combined with yoga, dance, breath work, journaling, and other healing practices. They are organized by Charity Joy Robinson, who teaches yoga and dance and performs reiki and massage therapy locally, and who has trained with horses on the East End and internationally.
Equine and Unwind will take place at the Milldale Farm Center for Wellness in Fairlee, Vt., from Oct. 22 through Oct. 24 and in Sonoita, Ariz., in March of 2022.
"It feels really good to be taking all these tools that I've been learning for years and years with horses, and teach other people how to heal and be with horses, and integrate it with all the other work that I do," Robinson said. "There's a benefit of feeling nurtured. I always say in nature, there is no judgment. . . . It's an invitation for people to come heal, to be in nature."
Covid-19 tests will be required ahead of time. The bulk of the activities will take place outdoors. Vegetarian meals are included in the price. The retreats are open to adults and children 10 and up, and cost between $775 and $975 depending on one's choice of on-site accommodations. More details can be found online at charityjoymovement.com.
