The first East Hampton Little League clinics could begin outdoors this weekend, if weather cooperates.

Dave Rutkowski said Tuesday that, depending on the weather, East Hampton's Little League organization would like to begin outdoor clinics for 8 through 12-year-old boys and girls at the Pantigo fields in East Hampton this weekend.

Decisions as to the Saturday or Sunday clinics perforce would be made "at the last minute," so parents should "check the East Hampton Little League page on Facebook and your emails for any news of an upcoming clinic," he said, adding that "you must be registered to participate in any clinic."

Registration can be done online at easthamptonlittleleague.com.

"We want to get the kids out to throw the ball around," Rutkowski said. "We'll follow all the Little League guidelines regarding safety."

The season is slated to begin at the end of March, he said. "With the blessings" of Mark McKee, who oversaw it for years under the Kiwanis Club's aegis, Little League may also take over T-ball instruction for 6 and 7-year-olds "beginning in early April."
