A fund-raiser for the Katy’s Courage Foundation, a nonprofit in memory of Katy Stewart, who at the age of 12 died of a rare form of liver cancer nine years ago, is to be held at the Buckskill Winter Club in East Hampton Sunday.
The foundation, begun by Katy’s parents, Jim and Brigid Collins Stewart, funds pediatric cancer research, scholarships at Pierson and East Hampton High Schools, and free Katy’s Kids sessions for grieving children at the Children’s Museum of the East End in Bridgehampton.
The scholarships, the Stewarts have said, go “to students who exemplify remarkable courage, kindness, and empathy, as did Katy during her all too brief but exceptional lifetime.”
The day will feature an all-day bake sale, learn-to-skate classes from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., public skating from 1:15 to 2:45, a puck throw from 3 to 3:15, an ice show from 3:30 to 4:30, a skate-a-thon from 4:45 to 5:45, a raffle drawing at 6, and a hockey game from 6 to 7:30. Registration is required for the puck throw, skate-a-thon, and hockey game.
