Kerri O'Donnell, one of eight seniors honored before Friday's 2-1 win here over Pierson -- a game in which she scored a goal -- got a hug from the East Hampton School District's athletic director, Kathy Masterson, before taking the field.

East Hampton’s 7-6-0 field hockey team remained in the playoff hunt as of earlier this week. Its coaches, Danielle Schuster and her sister, Nicole Ficeto, said they thought their charges could make the postseason “provided we play with intensity.”

The girls defeated Pierson 2-1 here Friday in the team’s “senior game” — Kerri O’Donnell, Addison Barletta, Olivia Walsh, Ava Tintle, Georgia Kenny, Lindsay Boyle, Lila Gabbard, and Audrey Smith being the honorees. Pierson took an early 1-0 lead, but the Bonackers came back with goals by O’Donnell and Barletta in the second half.

East Hampton plays at 12-1 Miller Place Tuesday, at home with 8-4-0 East Islip Thursday, and at 6-6-0 Comsewogue Saturday.
