A league championship will be up for grabs today as the East Hampton High School girls swimming team takes on Sayville-Bayport, the defending League III champion, at the Y.M.C.A. East Hampton RECenter. Both teams are taking 2-0 league records into the meet, which is to begin at 5:30.

“I can’t tell you how we’ll match up, but I do anticipate a very competitive meet,” Craig Brierley, East Hampton’s coach, said, adding that “at the start of the season our girls went up against the five top teams in the county — Sayville being the other — beating one and coming very close to beating two others.”

Before the meet gets under way, East Hampton’s six seniors — Aniela Bedini,

Ava Castillo, Lily Griffin, Valeria Gutierrez, Fiona Merola-Stisi, and Abby O’Sullivan — will be honored.
