According to the Department of Health Services, there were 9,560 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Suffolk County as of Thursday. There were 477 cases on the East End.
East Hampton had 37 cases of Covid-19 and Southampton, 157. The hardest-hit areas appeared to be among the most densely populated.
Fifteen people diagnosed with Covid-19 died in Suffolk County in the 24-hour period that ended at about 1 p.m. on Thursday. The new total of Suffolk Covid-19-related deaths was 84.
Among the Suffolk residents who died between Wednesday and Thursday, most were in their 70s and 80s, according to the report from the Department of Health Services.
There were 1,057 hospitalized patients as of Wednesday in the county, 314 of whom were in intensive care.
