Local officials and health professionals continue to expand access to Covid-19 vaccines on the South Fork.
On Thursday, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital will hold a pop-up vaccination clinic from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Montauk Playhouse to administer the Moderna vaccine to people 18 and older. Walk-ins will be welcomed or appointments can be made by emailing [email protected].
The state's vaccination site at the Stony Brook Southampton college campus is now accepting walk-ins for the Pfizer vaccine and is open seven days a week.
Also, following the Wednesday decision by the Centers for Disease Control and New York State to approve the Pfizer vaccine for emergency use in children as young as 12 years, Dr. Gail Schonfeld and Dr. Harriet Hellman will coordinate a pediatric vaccine clinic on May 22 to administer the Pfizer vaccine to children ages 12 to 18. The federal Food and Drug Administration has already deemed the vaccine safe for this age group.
The pediatric clinic will be held at East Hampton Town's Center for Humanities, formerly the Child Development Center of the Hamptons school, on Stephen Hand's Path. Parents and guardians can sign up their children via this online preregistration form.
