David Talmage (R, C, I, L, F)

Thu, 10/31/2019 - 17:39

Having served two terms in the late 1980s into the early 1990s, and holding the roles of clerk and assistant clerk, David Talmage hopes to be elected once again. He said he is running for another term because he wants to make sure the trustees are autonomous. “They need to keep themselves separate from other groups, like the town board and the D.E.C.,” he said. “They need to work with them but not be answerable to them, and I didn’t see that happening at this time.”

Mr. Talmage, who has been vice president of the Springs School Board, served five years in the Army as an infantry officer, retiring medically from service in 1985. Professionally, he was in the computer programming field for many years.

He said his priorities include defending beach access, keeping waterways navigable, maintaining water quality, preserving wildlife habitats, and dredging where and when it’s necessary. “I grew up in the community and am very familiar with the waters, beaches, and uplands,” he said. “I know the benefits of the assets that the trustees maintain for the public.
