Sixteen Hopefuls for Nine East Hampton Trustee Seats

The East Hampton Town Trustees, officially the Trustees of the Freeholders and Commonalty of the Town of East Hampton, manage "many of the town's beaches, waterways, and bottomlands on behalf ot the public," according to their website. Created by King James II in 1686 through the Dongan Patent, the trustees were the original governing body of the town. 

There are nine trustees, each elected every two years to a two-year term. Seven of the nine incumbents are seeking re-election this year. Including those seven, there are 16 candidates on the ballot. They are:
