Jim Grimes (R, D, C)

Thu, 10/31/2019 - 17:12

Jim Grimes is seeking a third term as an East Hampton trustee. The born-and-raised Montauk resident and fire department volunteer owns James C. Grimes Land Design and Fort Pond Native Plants.

So far as a trustee, Mr. Grimes said he had a role in getting dredging permits for Georgica Pond, improving relations with the D.E.C., establishing relationships in Sag Harbor Village along the shoreline, expediting the sand-fencing permit process, and improving water quality in trustee-managed areas. He said he would work on maintaining the good relationship with Lazy Point tenants, promoting beach nourishment, restoring and enhancing shellfishing for local baymen, residents, and wildlife, studying and improving conditions in Napeague Harbor, and long-term planning.

Mr. Grimes has served on the trustees’ harbor management, ponds, Lazy Point, and beaches committees. “I like what I do. I feel like I’m pretty good at it,” he said. “I’ve always had a sincere interest in the environment.”
