Fallon Nigro (R, C, I, L, F)

Thu, 10/31/2019 - 17:38

Fallon Nigro is running for elected office for the first time. She graduated in 2011 from the State University at Oneonta with a degree in political science and communication studies, and is the daughter of Joe Bloecker, a former trustee.

The lifelong Montauk resident said she was inspired to run for a trustee seat after seeing the ways her parents are involved in the community. Ms. Nigro  works for a pool company and at a restaurant in Montauk. She said some of her priorities are preserving beach access, improving water quality, and mitigating blue-green algae, which she called “terrifying.” She fondly recalls crabbing at Georgica Pond with her family, and said she hopes future generations will be able to enjoy recreation on the water just as she did.

“I’m all about maintaining a healthy environment,” Ms. Nigro said. “As a younger person, I think I will be able to find ways to get young people involved, and bring innovative ideas that may not have been thought of. I like to think outside the box.”
