Guild Hall will present a BroadayHD screening of the 2017 revival of Noel Coward’s “Present Laughter” on Saturday at 7 p.m. The plot follows a few days in the life of Garry Essendine, a self-obsessed light comedy actor played by Kevin Kline, who is preparing to go on tour to Africa to escape his estranged wife, women who want to seduce him, a crazed young playwright, and his long-suffering secretary.

Coward played Garry in the original production in 1942, which he called “a series of semi-autobiographical pyrotechnics.” As for Mr. Kline, Ben Brantley wrote in The New York Times, “It’s high time we were reminded again of what a great physical comedian Kevin Kline is. Playing an aging matinee idol in the bouncy new revival . . . Mr. Kline blissfully plies the witty athleticism and derring-do that won him two Tony Awards and an Oscar.” Tickets are $18, $16 for members.
