South Fork Poetry: ‘An Album From 1960’

By Bruce Buschel

I first heard it when a friend

sat me down and said, “You don’t

even need a joint.”

After listening to Side One

I asked if Side Two was just

as good.

“I don’t know,” he said. “Side One

goes so high, I never got to the

other side of the mountain.”

I did. Found All Blues and

Flamenco Sketches. And thought

Kind of Blue

was just about the best American

music I ever heard. Nothing has

changed my mind since.

Bruce Buschel is a writer, producer, director, and restaurateur who lives in Bridgehampton.
