Leiber Happenings
The Leiber Collection in Springs is presenting a series of events in conjunction with its current exhibitions “The Garden of Friends” and “Garden as Muse.” Tomorrow at 7, Jill Musnicki will host “An Evening of Silence in the Garden,” where she will show some of her wildlife images and invite people to reflect.
Saskia Friedrich and Jeremy Grosvenor will give separate performances on Sunday at 6 p.m. In the same program, Pipi Deer will present “Save the Butterflies,” and Conrad de Kwiatowski will discuss his work and that of other artists in “The Garden of Friends” exhibition.
“A Marriage of True Minds Remembered,” a talk by Ann Fristoe Stewart, director of the Leiber Collection, will take place via Zoom through the Amagansett Library on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Ms. Stewart will also lead a tour of the collection’s current exhibitions, followed by a reception, on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Registration is by email to [email protected].
Krasner in Bilbao
“Lee Krasner: Living Color,” a traveling retrospective of almost 100 works spanning 50 years, will open at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao on Friday, Sept. 18, and continue through Jan. 10. The show, organized by the Barbican Centre in London in collaboration with the Guggenheim Bilbao, brings together a broad range of works, many never before seen in Europe.
Reviewing the show for The Wall Street Journal during its run in Frankfurt last fall, Peter Plagens called it “a superbly cool, concise, complete and -- most important -- compelling exhibition of her work.”
Box Art Auction Postponed
The 20th annual Box Art Auction benefiting East End Hospice, originally scheduled for August and then postponed to October, has been rescheduled for August 2021.
“As much as we enjoy sharing the work of all our dedicated local artists,” said Arlene Bujese, the benefit chairwoman, “we have made the difficult decision that our responsibility to keep everyone safe and healthy means canceling our in-person celebration this year.”
Among the highlights to look forward to in 2021 is a raffle for a box that incorporates a sculpture by William King, the renowned East Hampton sculptor who participated in the event for many years.
Realists in Southampton
MM Fine Arts in Southampton will present “Contemporary Realism,” a group show of modern and contemporary artists, from Saturday through Sept. 27. The exhibition includes work by Rainer Andreesen, Ben Aronson, Bo Bartlett, Claudio Bravo, Cara De Angelis, Elaine de Kooning, David DeSimone, Terry Elkins, Susan Grossman, Sheridan Lord, Edwina Lucas, Deborah Martin, Alyssa Monks, Daniel Sprick, Andrew Wyeth, and Jamie Wyeth.
Benefit Art Sale
The Ross School Emergency Financial Aid Fund Art Sale is a benefit to support students who, because of economic challenges due to the pandemic, would not be able to return to school without aid.
Among the many artists whose works can be seen and bought on the school’s website are Peter Dayton, Nico Yektai, Jackie Fuchs, Jennifer Cross, Christine Sciulli, Jeremy Dennis, Margaret Garrett, Almond Zigmund, Eric Fischl, and Andrea Cote. One hundred percent of the proceeds will provide financial aid to students.
Group Show at White Room
“XX Factor,” a group show featuring work by Russell Young, Francine Tint, Linda Colletta, Cabell Molina, and Dorothy Ganek, is opening today at the White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton. It will remain on view through Oct. 4.
Both Mr. Young and Ms. Molina draw their imagery from popular culture, although Mr. Young’s screenprints feature recognizable celebrities while Ms. Molina’s mixed-media works owe more to comics and her imagination.
Abstract Expressionism informs Ms. Tint’s paintings. Ms. Colletta draws from graffiti art, punk rock, and urban grit, while Ms. Perrin has developed a collage technique inspired by posters she discovers on the walls of Lyon, France, her hometown.
Ben Fenske at Grenning
Ben Fenske’s solo show at the Grenning Gallery in Sag Harbor, on view through Oct. 4, shows the artist working at a larger scale and going more deeply into his subject matter than previously, perhaps because he was quarantined at his home and studio in the Italian countryside during the pandemic. The exhibition includes landscapes, interiors, still lifes, and portraits, rendered in an impressionistic style and with the suggestion of a narrative.

Corrections
The venue and dates for the exhibition of Courtenay Pollock's tie-dye arts was changed from Hero Beach Club in Montauk to Borghese Vineyard after the original location and dates were posted on this website. The above entry reflects those changes.
In last week’s column, the Superposition Gallery, a pop-up in residence through Sept. 25 at the Reform Club in Amagansett, was incorrectly referred to as the Supposition Gallery.
