Holiday Love Songs
"Holiday Cabaret: Love Songs With Gloria Reuben" comes to the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill on Friday at 6 p.m. Ms. Reuben, who will be accompanied on guitar by Pete Smith, is an actress, singer, and writer whose career has spanned television, film, theater, and cabaret. She performed as a backup singer for Tina Turner on her 24/7 tour in 200 and has released three albums.
The program will include "Santa Baby," "Merry Christmas Darling," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "Pure Imagination," "Save Your Love for Me," and "For All We Know."
Tickets are $15, $10 for members and students, and free for children. Advance ticket purchase and registration on the museum's website are required.
Counterfeiting Gems
John Hatleberg, widely considered the world's foremost counterfeiter of famous diamonds, will be the next speaker in Knowledge Fridays, the monthly lecture series at The Church in Sag Harbor, Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Mr. Hatleberg's interest began at a young age when his mother was a documentary photographer for the Smithsonian's gem collection. Always working with the actual gems, he has created exact replicas of famous diamonds since 1987. Among the many he has replicated are the Hope, the Dresden Green, the Guinea Star, and the Blue Heart.
Mr. Hatleberg will discuss his process of replication, how he makes diamonds out of roses, and other gem art projects. Tickets are $10, and masks and proof of vaccination will be required.
Vintage Music
As part of Victorian Christmas at the Moran Studio, Peter Van Scoyoc, the East Hampton Town supervisor and a guitarist, and Marilyn Van Scoyoc, the former director of the East Hampton High School band, will perform an instrumental duet of turn-of-the-century holiday music on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Tickets are $5, and preregistration has been recommended.
Winter Jazz Fest
The Lew Tabackin Trio will perform in Hamptons Jazz Fest's winter series on Friday evening at 7 at the Southampton Arts Center. A flutist and tenor saxophonist, Mr. Tabackin performed early in his career with the big bands of Cab Calloway, Maynard Ferguson, and Joe Henderson, among others.
He tours the world as a soloist, playing clubs and jazz festivals with his own groups and as a featured soloist with the Toshiko Akiyoshi Jazz Orchestra. Raul da Gama, in a review for JazzdaGama.com, said "Tabackin's sound is singular, one-of-a-kind, and informed by an enormous tone-color palette." He will be accompanied by Vincent Dupont on bass and Jason Tiemann on drums.
Tickets are $20, $15 for members. A social hour with a cash bar will be open from 6 to 7.
Christmas Classics
"Darren Ottati and Friends: The Magic of Christmas" will be the holiday concert at the Southampton Cultural Center on Sunday at 1 and 4 p.m. Mr. Ottati, a tenor, performs regularly there, at the Southampton Arts Center, and at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center.
The program will include "Little Drummer Boy," "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "Climb Every Mountain," "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," "Walking in a Winter Wonderland," and "Jingle Bell Rock," among many others. Tickets are $25, $15 for students under 21 and children.
Masonic Fusion
Next up in the music series at the Masonic Temple in Sag Harbor is Elegant People, who will bring the fusion sounds of the 1970s and '80s to the temple's Inner Sanctum on Sunday at 6 p.m. The band members are Eric Shugren, saxophone, Randolph Hudson, bass, Fred Gilde, keyboards, and Claes Brondal, drums.
