Mingus's Latin Side

Conrad Herwig will perform "The Latin Side of Charles Mingus" at the Southampton Arts Center.

The Southampton Arts Center and Hamptons Jazz Fest will present "Conrad Herwig's Latin Side of Charles Mingus" on Saturday at 7 p.m. outdoors at the center.

A longtime member of the Mingus Big Band, for which he has served as musical director and arranger, Mr. Herwig has performed or recorded with Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, and Buddy Rich, and has toured with Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, and Paquito D'Rivera.

Tickets are $20, $15 for members.

Also at the arts center, a program of films from Empowers Africa, which funds films about conservation and human empowerment issues on that continent, will be shown outdoors on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.. Tickets are $10, free for members.
