The Church in Sag Harbor has announced the appointment of Sheri L. Pasquarella as executive director, and the continuation of Sara Cochran as chief curator. Ms. Pasquarella has worked in the international art world as a gallery director, not-for-profit founder, educator, art advisor, and consultant. Originally from the East End, her first job was at Guild Hall in 1996.
The arts center will offer an opportunity to meet Ms. Pasquarella on Saturday morning from 10 to 11, after which she will join Ms. Cochran for a conversation about their past professional experiences, the future of The Church, and the cultural history and landscape of Sag Harbor and the East End.
"I look forward to meeting the artists, neighbors, friends, and supporters, and welcome their questions, thoughts, and ideas," Ms. Pasquarella said. "I admire the work that Sara has pioneered with Eric and April, and look forward to a bright future together."
Saturday's event is free and open to the public.
Three other upcoming programs will focus on The Church's current exhibition, "Threading the Needle." Ms. Cochran and Eric Fischl, co-curators of the show, will discuss the curatorial process and how the exhibition came about on Friday at 6 p.m. Tickets are $30, $25 for members.
On Sunday morning at 10:30, Bastienne Schmidt will speak about her work in the exhibition, "Measuring Time, Grid Calendar," which was created during the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic. The work records the passage of time in a period of uncertainty. Tickets are $15.
Erin M. Riley's handwoven wool tapestries reflect on relationships, memories, fantasies, sexual violence, and trauma with images drawn from personal photographs, the internet, newspaper clippings, and other ephemera. She will talk about "Desire," her work in the exhibition, on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15.
